Southland Community Church

Steve Schellin has never met a stranger. His energy, passion, transparency and team approach with the elders and staff of Southland are now focused on welcoming and leading all Southland members and guests as they discover and grow in their walk with Jesus Christ. Always one for a challenge, Steve’s goal is to help the people of Southland profoundly impact the Johnson and Marion county area — and the world — for Christ.

Steve and wife Stephanie are the proud parents of Meredith and Landon. The family lives in Green- wood with Baxter, their golden retriever.

Prior to his ministry at Southland, Steve served as associate pastor at Community Church of Green- wood and Harvest Point Church in Greenwood, as well as Faith Memorial Church in Lancaster, Ohio. He has also served as an aid to an Ohio congressman, director of enrollment at Ohio Christian University and as executive director of the Christian Holiness Association and editor of Holiness Digest Magazine.

Steve’s favorite God story:
An old church camp friend of mine had been involved in the occult and had really messed up his life. I hadn’t seen him in 10 years when in the middle of the night he found me working at a youth camp. After some scary moments of conversation with him, I began to pray. He grabbed me and lifted me up off the ground and I kept praying. Soon he began to pray out loud and carefully put me back down on my feet. In this moment his life was completely changed. He called me four years later from his home in Colorado to say he had married a beautiful Christian girl, was serving in his church and had a great job as a radio personality.
