Leadership

Steve Schellin

Senior Pastor

About a decade ago, Steve and Stephanie Schellin sensed God calling them to something new. With nine other couples, the decision was made to start Southland and what we see today is the result of that calling.

Steve graduated from Ohio Christian University and entered the world of politics, working for an Ohio congressman.  Eventually he returned to his call to ministry and has served over 35 years as a college administrator, youth pastor and administrative pastor as well as other leadership positions with national and international ministry organizations.  In addition, Steve travels the globe providing training to Christian leaders throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Steve never meets a stranger and truly loves people.  However, he's not all business. Steve enjoys hobbies like golf (really bad at it), basketball (loves to set a good pick) and reading (not sure if this is a hobby or work).  Of course, his greatest love is his amazing family.  Steve and Stephanie have been married for 35 years and have two children. Meredith lives in Washington D.C. and Landon lives in Lancaster, Ohio. Both are gainfully employed (phew!) and heavily involved in ministry in their local churches.

Most of all, Steve is very passionate about knowing and serving Jesus.  He always says, "If I could say only one thing to the world, it would be 'Meeting Jesus is the best thing that will ever happen to you.'"

Stephanie Schellin

Discipleship & Children's Director

Stephanie has been teaching children for over 30 years.  She has a master's degree in Christian Education.  More importantly, she just loves sharing Jesus' love with the youngest ones of Southland.  Stephanie has been a college professor, an elementary school principal, a children's camp director and a church children's ministry administrator.  She makes learning the Bible fun while at the same time helping kids worship Jesus with all their hearts.  Stephanie’s passion for teaching God’s word and education enables her in helping Southland’s Community groups with curriculum and group facilitation. When Stephanie isn't pouring herself into our kids, she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

Daycare Director of the Learning Zone Linda Chrenko headshot

Linda Chrenko

Director of The Learning Zone

Linda Chrenko's passion is to help children grow in their faith, as well as learn social skills.  She has twenty-plus years' experience as a preschool teacher.  Linda's first opportunity to serve as a director was as an intern for a Parents' Day Out program where, she believes, God was training her for her current role at Southland Community Church.

Linda would say one of her greatest accomplishments has been the joy and satisfaction of raising her three children with her husband and helping them grow into successful men and women who love God.  "Our family has grown from five to fifteen with four wonderful grandchildren."  Linda is the founding director of The Learning Zone @ Southland, and along with her administrator, Cindy Arnot, and her wonderful team, has grown this ministry to one of the largest ministry-based daycares/preschools in Indiana.
