WE SOMETIMES USE THE TERM, “FIRED UP” TO REPRESENT OUR PASSION FOR SOMETHING. WHETHER IT’S A TEAM, A CAUSE OR A RELATIONSHIP, WE CAN BE FILLED WITH EMOTION THAT ENERGIZES AND MOBILIZES US TO ACTION. IN THE BIBLE, THE ACTIVITY OF GOD IS SOMETIMES REVEALED WITH FIRE. THESE FIRE REFERENCES HAVE AMAZING APPLICATION TO OUR DAILY LIVES.
February 5 | The Presence of God
When Moses was living as a fugitive, he spent a lot of time in solitude caring for livestock. Out of nowhere God shows up in a burning bush that wasn’t being consumed. Moses’ encounter with the fire of God can teach us a lot about the confrontation and call of God on our lives...if we’ll let Him.
February 11 | The Purification of God

There is a clear running theme throughout the Old Testament of the Bible: God’s blessing, people’s rebellion, repentance, God’s blessing, people’s rebellion...and the cycle continues. Zechariah was a prophet who called God’s people to repentance. He uses the metaphor of purifying fire relative to God’s cleansing work in people’s hearts. God continues to purify hearts today...if we’ll let Him.
February 18 | The Power of God
Jesus promised His followers that they would be given power to influence the world when His Holy Spirit filled their hearts. The Bible tells the story of how the Holy Spirit came and appeared to them as “tongues of fire” resting upon each of them. At that moment “the church” was born and began to grow with powerful influence, miracles and expansion. That same fire can empower the heart of people today...if we’ll let Him. To prepare for this sermon, read Acts 1:8; 2:1-47
