Jesus told stories to illustrate important themes and values in the Kingdom of God. These are themes and values we are designed to build our lives upon. There are a lot of kingdoms in the world. Yet, no earthly kingdom lasts forever. They come and go. But God’s Kingdom never ends. The next three months will be a series of questions. Once you’ve answered them, you will know how to gain the Keys to His Kingdom.
June 6 | What are you building on? | Matthew 7:24-27
The kingdoms of this world make a lot of promises they can’t keep. We tend to build our lives on those empty promises. Jesus taught to build your life on an eternal foundation. What is that foundation and how do I build upon it? To prepare, read the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders in Matthew 7:24-27.
June 13 | Are you good dirt? | Matthew 3:3-23
Jesus taught about teachability. People are like soil, they receive the seeds of truth differently. We can choose to be good dirt and receive what God has to tell us about His Kingdom. Also, we can either reject it outright or allow enemies of faith to distract us from what’s good for us. So, how teachable are you? Are you good dirt? To prepare, read the Parable of the Soils in Matthew 13:3-23.
June 20 | Do you need to pull some weeds? |
Jesus continues the plant analogy with a parable about good versus evil. We may not see it, but there is a spiritual battle waging for our attention, our values and our souls. Have you allowed your spiritual enemy to plant weeds in your life that suck the life out of your passion for God’s Kingdom? To prepare, read the Parable of the Weeds in Matthew 13:24-43.
June 27 | How Big is the Biggest Kingdom?
Jesus used two short parables together to help people see that God’s kingdom will ultimately dominate the world. The listeners at the time of Jesus expected they would one day rule the world. Jesus points out that God’s Kingdom exists in every part of the physical world, and the world beyond. So, how big is the kingdom you’re living in? To prepare, read the Parable of the Mustard Seed and the Parable of the Yeast in Matthew 13:31-35.
July 4 | How Much Does God Care?
How important is one person to God? Jesus makes it clear, God loves the world so much He will spare no expense to find one person who has wandered away from His Kingdom. Have you wandered away from Him? Don’t worry. He left all the glory of heaven to chase you down. To prepare, read the Parable of the Lost Sheep in Matthew 18:12-14.
July 11 | Do I Really Need To Forgive?
The Apostle Peter asked Jesus how many times he had to forgive someone? So Jesus told him that being part of the Kingdom of God means embracing the incredible gift of forgiveness. Not only your own forgiveness, but offering that forgiveness to others. How many times? EVERY TIME! To prepare, read the Parable of the Unmerciful Servant in Matthew 18:21-34.
July 18 | Is God Always Fair?
My idea of fairness and God’s idea of fairness might not be exactly the same. Why is it that some people always seem to have more than others? It seems to me that if God was fair, we would all get an equal life experience. Is there some economy in the Kingdom of God that I’m missing. To prepare, read the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard in Matthew 20:1-16.
July 25 | How Do I Make It To Heaven?
God’s Kingdom is forever and includes a place called heaven. Everyone wants to be there someday. But, how does that work? How do I make it to heaven? Jesus taught a parable that made it clear, some will make it and some won’t. Can I be sure I’m going to make it? To prepare, read the Parable of the Wedding Banquet Invitation in Matthew 22:2-14.
August 1 | Can I Change My Mind?
Choosing God’s kingdom over the kingdoms of earth requires a change of mind. Jesus called it repentance. Not only CAN you change your mind about which kingdom you want to live in, God WANTS you to change your mind. What does that mean for me in terms of my life right now? To prepare, read the Parable of the Two Sons in Matthew 21:28-32.
August 8 | So, when is Jesus coming back?
Due to technical difficulties, we do not have a link to The Well service. We apologize.
If I want to make sure I’m ready to meet Jesus when He returns, it would help to know when He’s coming back. Well, to live in God’s Kingdom eternally He must find you living in His Kingdom when He chooses to return. The big question is, if Jesus came back today, would He find you waiting on Him? To prepare, read the Parable of the Faithful and Wicked Servants in Matthew 24:36-51.
August 15 | What is a Kingdom of God Attitude?
The kingdoms of earth teach us to seek first our success and pleasure, even if we need to step on others to do it. That’s a completely different attitude than those who embrace God’s kingdom. What is the definition of success in the Kingdom of God. To prepare, read the Parable of the Seat at the Feast in Luke 14:7-14.
August 22 | Should I Care if Others Choose God's Kingdom?
God has designed human beings to receive His love and embrace His grace. He wants all of us who have chosen His Kingdom to let others know about it. He wants us to demonstrate the same type of passion for the lost that He demonstrated toward us. To prepare, read the three parables about Lost Are Found in Luke 15.
August 29 | Will I Finish Well on Earth?
Jesus wants us to know God will never leave us alone in the battle we experience in our physical lives on earth. He is always available to empower us to finish well as we enjoy His kingdom. But, He calls us to persevere with intentional prayer and passion for His help and direction. To prepare, read the Parable of the Persistent Widow in Luke 18:1-8.
