What Jesus Said About Getting Serious with God

If I want to get serious about a relationship with God, how do I do it? Jesus had a lot to say about what it means to know God, walk with God, be challenged and encouraged by God and represent Christ in the world. Actually, He not only talked about it, He modeled it in His earthly life.

April 7th| Baptism | John 5:16-30 | Matthew 3:13-17; 28:19-20

Not only did Jesus talk about baptism, He modeled it.  His final words before He ascended into heaven were for His followers to baptize those who believe in Him.  Why was baptism so important to Jesus and then to the church?  How does baptism help me get serious in my relationship with God?  To prepare, read Matthew 3:13-17 and Matthew 28:19-20.

April 14th| Worship | John 4:1-26

Worship is two things: acknowledging the worth of someone and having that worship inform your way of living. Jesus taught if we're serious about our relationship with God, we'll worship Him in Spirit and in truth. What does He mean by that? How do I apply my worship of God to every area of my life? To prepare, read John 4:1-26.

April 21st| Prayer | Matthew 6:5-15; 26:36-46

The beauty of following Jesus is that He not only taught and encouraged us to enjoy approaching God in prayer, He modeled it for us. If we want to get serious about our relationship with God, prayer is an amazing gift to focus upon. How should I pray? How does prayer impact the regular things in my life? To prepare, read Matthew 6:5-15 and Matthew 26: 36-46.

April 28th | Missions Mid-Year - Esther Chang

Each spring Southland pauses to focus upon our mission ministry. We are thrilled that Esther Chang from Asia will be with us. Esther has faced many incredible challenges, including torture and threats to her life and the life of her family. This service promises to open your eyes to the amazing things the Lord is doing through Christians in places where Jesus is not welcomed. Pray much for Esther and those who will hear her story.

*Due to security concerns, a recording from Esther's sermon is not available.
